From the Arduino website: “Arduino is an open-source electronics prototyping platform based on flexible, easy-to-use hardware and software. It’s intended for artists, designers, hobbyists and anyone interested in creating interactive objects or environments.” It’s most powerful feature is the ability to sense environmental input such as temperature and humidity and allow you to use it in your programs. And of course it can affect its environment by programmatically turning switches on and off.
